Counselling Skills Course
A ten week programme

The course that we offer is the ABC (Level 2) Certificate in Counselling Concepts. This course provides an introduction to counselling and may be of interest to you if:

• You would like a realistic understanding of the nature of counselling training
• You would like to enhance and improved your verbal and communication skills
• You would like to experience working in groups of different sizes
• You would like to enhance your career prospects through extra qualifications
• You are undertaking voluntary work
• You are seeking a career change
• You are returning to study
• You would like to enhance your self awareness

This course is accredited by ABC and offers an NVQ level 2 qualification.

The course consists of 3 units, which are both internally and externally assessed
Unit 1 An appreciation of the basics of counselling , the professional context and relationship
Unit 1 And introduction to the skills used by a counsellor
Unit 3 An introduction to personal development

The course cost is £150, and is an open access course. It runs for 10 weeks and is on Tuesday evenings (6pm – 9pm). If trainees wish to take the ABC examination there is an additional £35 fee. Without the examination, trainees receive a Certificate of Attendance from The Sherwood Institute.
