Rosemary Langford-BellabyRosemary Langford-Bellaby – Director of Training

 

Rosemary's role as Director of Training means  that she has oversight and responsibility for the clinical and academic training at SPTI. As part of this, Rosemary tutors on all of the Training programmes at the Institute so making it possible to meet with all of the students. Prior to this Rosemary was the Programme Leader for the MA in Integrative Psychotherapy programme. She has extensive training and experience as a counsellor, psychotherapist, supervisor and trainer. From a Psychotherapy perspective, Rosemary is trained in both Gestalt Psychotherapy and Integrative Psychotherapy, and has completed additional elements of training in Transactional Analysis, Behavioural Therapy and Client-Centred Counselling. She was previously course leader of the Person-Centred Counselling programme at The Sherwood Institute. In all of the different trainings Rosemary related to her interest in the interface between spirituality and psychology. She has been a tutor on the Counselling Programme at St. John’s Theological college in Nottingham and completed a second MA in Theology and Pastoral Care. In addition to psychotherapy training, Rosemary has trained as a supervisor and trainer and currently runs the Supervision training at SPTI. Prior to her advanced counselling/psychotherapy training, Rosemary was a qualified Psychiatric Nurse and has more than twenty years experience working in the NHS, including a specialist role as a Nurse Therapist. She is accredited with the UKCP and runs a private practice working with individuals, couples and groups.

Andy FookesAndy Fookes - Institute Manager

 

Andy is the Institute Manager of The Sherwood Institute. He has trained extensively in Gestalt Psychotherapy, Humanistic Person-centred counselling, Integrative work and supervision, both with the Gestalt Institute of Los Angeles and at The Sherwood Institute itself from its earliest days.

As Institute Manager, Andy oversees general management and day-to-day running of The Sherwood Institute. His continued interest is in providing high-quality training in psychotherapy and counselling such that the profession, and The Sherwood Institute in particular, may contribute effectively and more widely to serving the needs of individuals and society in the 21st century. One such need is that of supporting appropriate work/life combinations and Andy feels strongly that his busy work schedule should also support the value he places on his relationship with his wife and young sons.

Elaine Marren

Elaine Marren - Office Manager

 

Guardian at the gate, first port of call, and soothing presence... for students anxious about assignments, tutors demanding last minute paperwork... Elaine has been involved with The Sherwood Institute since its early days and one of her great attributes is her ability to remain patient and smiling amidst crisis. Her official role is Office manager, providing administrative support to staff and students, liasing with University office staff, and answering initial enquiries about our courses and other matters from members of the public.

Elaine also gives her energy and commitment to the city of Nottingham more widely, as one of the principal organisers of the first St. Patrick’s Day parade in Nottingham, an event which has continued every year since.

Maggie SeniorMaggie Senior - Programme Leader: MA Integrative Psychotherapy

Maggie is Programme Leader for the MA Integrative Psychotherapy at the Sherwood Institute, where she is also a supervisor. She has taught on both the Humanistic Person Centred and Gestalt courses and is a UKCP registered psychotherapist, holding a Diploma in Gestalt Psychotherapy and an MSc in Integrative Psychotherapy. She has an interest in how differing models of psychotherapy might integrate and a particular expertise in the field of dissociation and trauma. She is trained in using Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) with clients who have experienced trauma.

Marian Crowley - Programme Leader, GestaltMarian Crowley – Programme Leader: MA Gestalt Psychotherapy; Head of Academic Liaison and Standards

Marian is a qualified Psychiatric Nurse and trained initially as a Person Centred Therapist in 1989. Her work within the NHS has included nursing, practice development, teaching and clinical research.  She has also worked with the International Medical Corp in Kosovo, Bosnia, Africa and USA, utilising her nursing and therapeutic skills. Since 1997 Marian has been a senior lecturer in Mental Health at the University of Central England in Birmingham teaching counselling and psychotherapy.  Marian continues her own academic studies undertaking her PhD at Warwick University, in which she’s researching the impact of training on trainee therapists with particular emphasis on dialogic process and vicarious trauma. Marian works in private practice as a psychotherapist and supervisor.

Michelle Cooke - Joint Programme Leader, HPCMichelle J. Cooke – Programme Leader: MA in Humanistic Person-Centred Psychotherapy

Michelle is a UKCP registered psychotherapist with several counselling and psychotherapy related qualifications, including an MA in Humanistic Person-Centred Psychotherapy.  She has worked within a variety of therapeutic settings and maintains a private practice providing psychotherapy and supervision to individuals, couples, and groups.  As a trainer, she strives to ensure her delivery is grounded within the core training model in order to provide trainees with an experience consistent with the philosophical, theoretical, and practical application of their chosen approach.  Her interests include the evolution of person-centred theory in light of ever-changing thinking within the therapeutic world and beyond.  In addition, she is specifically interested in issues relating to the process of self-criticism, gender, and social change.

 

Catherine Austin – Programme Leader: Diploma in Counselling & Psychotherapy and Programme Leader: Foundation Access Course; Tutor: MA Humanistic Person-Centred Psychotherapy

Catherine is a Registered UKCP psychotherapist with an MSc in Integrative Psychotherapy and an MA in Humanistic Counselling.  She has a background in counselling training in Further Education and is now involved in the development of undergraduate training at The Sherwood Institute. She has worked for counselling agencies in Nottingham for a number of years and has a private psychotherapy practice, working with individuals, and also supervising qualified and trainee counsellors and psychotherapists.  She lives in Nottingham with her husband.

 

Ann Shotter – Tutor: Foundation Access Course

Ann brings valuable Psychodynamic experience to the Foundation Course as a trainer on the one year course.

Linda Best - Office AdministratorLinda Best – Course Trainer: Counselling Skills Course; Office Administrator

Linda is the trainer responsible for the ABC accredited Counselling Skills Course. She also provides invaluable administrative support to the staff team at The Sherwood Institute and to the students. She has an intimate knowledge of the psychotherapy world having trained as a Person-Centred Counsellor. Her passion is horses, and she is a qualified international instructor in Natural Horsemanship.

Belinda HarrisBelinda Harris - Tutor: MA in Humanistic Person-Centred Psychotherapy

 

Belinda is a lecturer in Counselling and Human Relations at the University of Nottingham and in 2001 she received the Lord Dearing award for Teaching Excellence. Her particular areas of interest are group work and cross-cultural communication. Currently she is engaged in two areas of research: counselling children for the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy; and teaching and learning strategies for the development of emotional intelligence in the caring professions (founded by Education Action Zones). Belinda has written several book chapters, and articles in a variety of journals. She and her partner have two children  and live in Nottingham.

Stephanie Pugsley Stephanie Pugsley - Tutor: MA Integrative Psychotherapy; Tutor MA Humanistic Person Centred Psychotherapy; Course Trainer for Research and MA completion.

Stephanie is a tutor on the above programmes at the Sherwood Institute and  is a visiting tutor at The Gestalt Institute, Oslo, Norway, on the MSc in Gestalt Studies programme. She is a qualified Supervisor (dip. SPTI) and a registered UKCP psychotherapist holding both a professional Diploma and an MA in Gestalt Psychotherapy. Stephanie also runs a small group of APL students looking to complete their MA studies with The Sherwood Institute.

In addition to her work at the Sherwood Institute she runs a psychotherapy practice working with individuals, couples and groups, and supervises qualified and trainee psychotherapists and counsellors in both Nottingham and Norway.

Pat Bryant - Tutor, MA IntegrativePat Bryant - Tutor: MA Integrative psychotherapy

Pat has worked extensively in acute psychiatric settings as a Clinical Specialist in Psychotherapy working with adults, families and children where her role included training and supervising professionals working in NHS settings.  She now works mainly in private practice as a psychotherapist and supervisor. For the past ten years she has been on the tutorial staff of the MSc Programme in Integrative Psychotherapy at Metanoia.  She is currently the Course Director for the MA Course in Integrative Child Psychotherapy at IATE in London.  She also teaches on the Adult MA Programme in Integrative Arts Psychotherapy at IATE in London.  She has recently been awarded the European Certificate in Psychotherapy and holds a Certificate in Integrative Psychotherapy from The New York Institute for Integrative Psychotherapy. She is a visiting trainer at The Manchester Institute of Psychotherapy.

Peter Orlandi-Fantini Peter Orlandi-Fantini - Co-ordinator: Mental Health Placement Programme

Peter is a UKCP accredited Gestalt psychotherapist with prior qualifications in counselling and a Master’s Degree in Education. He has been a clinical teacher in psychiatry and a lecturer in Psychiatric Studies within the NHS. Peter brings his considerable experience of teaching a wide range of professional groups to his work at the Sherwood Institute where he is responsible for teaching the Mental Health workshop and co-ordinating the Mental Health Placement Programme. Until recently he ran the Masters in Gestalt psychotherapy programme at the Institute and was also a Tutor on the Diploma in Humanistic Psychotherapy programme. He has an interest in the synthesis of a variety of theoretical perspectives that may inform and support the practice of psychotherapy in the areas of mind, body and consciousness, with a particular interest in neurobiology. Peter approaches education from a holistic perspective and endeavours to realise the major tenets of humanistic psychology in his teaching practice. He runs a clinical practice  working with individuals, couples and groups

Rebecca Pratt - MarketingRebecca Pratt – Marketing

Rebecca’s role in Marketing at the Institute means she is often the voice at the end of the phone the first time you call to enquire about studying here. She sends all prospective trainees the information they need to help them make a decision, and helps to organise Information Days. Rebecca is also the person to talk to if you want more information about Continuing Professional Development. Rebecca has a background in Marketing (Bachelor of Commerce from University of New South Wales, Sydney) and has worked mostly in financial services and loyalty programme marketing in the past. The Sherwood Institute has brought a whole new world to her! She has spent the last few years living in different parts of the world, and looking after her two small children. She is enjoying living in Nottingham very much.
