Love, Hate & the Erotic in the Consulting RoomThe co-presenters will be exploring more deeply the themes of love, hate and the erotic transference and counter transference in psychoanalytic and psychodynamic work. The presentation and discussion in the morning will be followed by a film illustrating aspects of the subject, which it is anticipated will lead to lively debate. The afternoon presentation will be followed by a plenary session to close the conference. It is hoped that participants will be willing to contribute to the discussions, bringing their own perspectives and clinical experiences to the debate. Conference: Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy In the Treatment of Personality DisorderIntensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP) is a focal, structured psychological therapy with an evidence base across a range of mental health disorders. Specific applications have been developed for the treatment of complex mental health disorders including depression, anxiety, personality and somatic disorders. During this conference participants will be introduced to the core concepts of ISTDP and how the model is used in the treatment of personality disorder. Videotaped illustrations will demonstrate the treatment process including the early and mid-stages of treatment, and evaluation of treatment at follow-up.
