The Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute is an active research community of staff, students, and graduates. Members of our teaching staff and alumni are working towards and have obtained external Doctorates in psychotherapy and counselling, and aligned fields. Research is embedded throughout our programmes.

Research Showcase 2024

The SPTI research Showcase is a full day event offering engaging keynote content from external speakers, presentations from our graduates, and opportunities for networking. The event is open to current students, graduates and other professionals working in the field of counselling & psychotherapy with an interest in research.

The Research Showcase took place on Saturday 16th March 2024. The theme of the 2024 Research Showcase was ‘Our diverse research community?’. View the Call for Papers here.

Previous Research Showcases

We have hosted several Research Showcases with invited speakers and involving contributions from our final year students, graduates and staff.

In 2021 a Research Showcase, on the topic of ‘Using Ourselves in Research’, took place on Saturday 13th November 2021 from 9.30 – 4.30 pm online via Zoom. The showcase featured a keynote presentation from Professor Divine Charura and an interactive session with Kim Etherington, plus a panel discussion and presentations on a range of research topics from graduates and students.
