The Person-Centred and Experiential Psychotherapy training program at Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute has been at the forefront of PCEP training for over a decade. Our content delivery is regularly updated to stay aligned with the latest developments within the field, and to support the next generation of excellence in person-centred and experiential psychotherapy. We are a diverse team of practitioners, looking to increase this diversity with colleagues who are interested in and committed to Person-Centred and Experiential philosophies, theories, research, and practice
The course provides comprehensive training in various modules throughout the 4 years of our UKCP accredited program. You may be interested in particular stages of growth, models of working, or in research. We are looking for experienced and passionate individuals who want to contribute towards our building of a solid, caring and supportive team within SPTI and to serve the students on our program.
The program is now under new leadership and with a view to strengthening our work we are looking for new and/or experienced people to join us as we move forward together. We believe in person-centred being and learning, facilitating change and development by offering our presence and embodying the conditions in all our work. We prize having the highest standards for our training content and delivery at all stages.
We have opportunities throughout all 4 years on our program with the aim to meet the interests of those who want to join us. Current roles are for facilitation of year groups or modules and additional work for marking and supporting individual students. We envisage there being future opportunities for progression and growth, creating course content and valuing the contribution of everyone. We offer flexible self-employed working and you can opt in for work that interests you within our team. We aim to work collaboratively to support each other in our goals and to develop each other by bringing our strengths and knowledge together.
Our current program modules are:
Year 1: Foundations of PCEP; Professional Contexts of Practice
Year 2: Development of the Person; Psychopathology; Relating & Change
Year 3: Therapeutic Presence & Use of Self; Approaches to Research & Reflexivity, Advancing Practitioner Research in PCEP
Year 4: Clinical Research Competency
A typical training day includes facilitation of group process, experiential exercises, facilitating learning of material, sitting in on small group work and in earlier years, giving feedback on observed practice. In addition, administrative duties associated with the institute and delivery of program, and the option to mark assignments.
We are currently revising our induction processes to ensure any new members have a comprehensive understanding of the role and are best supported to feel comfortable and confident in their work.
